Up To 26 Ford Mustangs Stolen From Ford Lot In Detroit

Stealing 11 Mustangs 5 days ago wasn’t enough for a group of thieves at Ford’s Flat Rock Assembly Plant. They struck again Tuesday. 12 to 15 more Mustangs were stolen from the same storage lot early Tuesday morning, leaving plenty of questions on how the thieves continue to swipe the cars. Woodhaven Police Chief Scott Fraczek talked to Michigan News Network about how the thieves are accessing the lot.

“The north side’s backed up to a rail yard,” Fraczek said. “Rail yards are unprotected, and then where they dump the trailers, the rail cars to offload the cars, they can come in that way all they want. They used to come in and they’d cut the fence. Now they’re coming in from a direction we don’t know and they don’t cut the fence.”

Is it an inside job?

“It’s what it sounds like. You’ve got to know what you’re looking for when you get in there.”

Police have recovered two of the mustangs. The Flat Rock theft wasn’t the only incident involving stolen cars Tuesday morning. Thieves stole multiple Jeep Wagoneers from the Stellantis truck plant in Warren before they were caught by police.
