The Benton Harbor Farmers Market will return for the season next month. The Berrien County Health Department’s Chioma Ejiofor tells WSJM News the market will be held each Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dwight P. Mitchell City Center Park starting June 22 through mid-September.

“Our market seeks to provide affordable access to fresh and local fruits and vegetables,” Ejiofor said. “Really, we’re trying to increase the access for not only those in Benton Harbor, but those in surrounding areas to get fresh fruits and vegetables because we know incorporating fresh fruits and vegetables into your diet makes for a healthier life.”

Ejifor says there will be activities for the kids, fitness demonstrations, and food trucks on hand. The health department is looking for additional vendors to take part. Any local growers of produce or makers of artisan products are invited to reach out via Facebook or email. The Benton Harbor Farmers Market allows WIC and EBT cards to be used.
