Raymond L. Adams

Raymond L. Adams, 76, of Chicago, IL and Pullman, MI, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021 at his home in Lee Township. He was born March 23, 1945 to Raymond and Bertha (Schwartz) Adams in Chicago, Illinois. He married Karen Curley on February 24, 1967 in Chicago. They shared 54 years of marriage together. Raymond, a United States Navy veteran, was a lifelong fire fighter serving the Chicago Fire Department for 29 years and continued to serve on the Lee Township Fire Department after retirement. Being a fire fighter was his life second only to his family. Raymond was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend who was a mentor and patriarch to all. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hobby farming and “assessing the situation” with his brother- in-law Mike while attempting to solve the world’s problems.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by a daughter-in-law – Maxie Adams.

Raymond is survived by his wife – Karen Adams of Pullman; children – Maureen (Robert) Dietrick of Chandler, Arizona, Raymond “Michael” Adams of Mesa, Arizona, and Jimmy Adams of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren – Sabrina, Brian, Becky, Emily, Christopher, Joesph, Nicholas, and Michael; great grandchildren – Deven, Riley, Fayelynn, Killian, Sutton, Max, and a baby boy on the way. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 23, 2021 with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM at the Filbrandt Chapel in South Haven. Visitation will also be held at 9:00 AM on Friday, September 24, 2021 at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at the St. Basil Catholic Church in South Haven. Raymond will be laid to rest at the Lee Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Raymond’s memory to the Lee Township Fire Department/EMS Fund, 5415 109th Avenue, Pullman, Michigan 49450.
