George Dolphus Putman

George Dolphus Putman, 78, of Lawrence, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021 at his home in Lawrence.

He was born February 13, 1943 in Kalamazoo, the son of Belton Putman and Nellie  (Doxey) Putman.

George was an all around outdoors man, he had a strong love for fishing and hunting. He enjoyed working around his property. He cut down many trees on his property over the years. George was always positive and did not tolerate any negativity. He would always find the positive side, no matter how negative the situation may be. He held a strong bond with his sons and his family and had a strong work ethic his entire life.

On June 28, 1991, he married Kathy (Bailey) Putman who survives.

George is also survived by his two sons, Christopher George Putman and Curtis Lee Putman and their mother, Jean Marie Cheever, his two stepsons, Christopher Lee Simmonds and Daniel Grady Simmonds, two granddaughters, Sabrina LeAnn Putman and Samantha Lynn Putman; one brother, Belton Travis (Bonnie) Putman.

Family and friends will visit Thursday, September 23, 2021, beginning at 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. at the Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave., Paw Paw, where a life celebration will commence at 1:00 pm with Rev. Tim Gunderson officiating. Immediately following services, there will be a time of food and fellowship at the funeral home. Burial will then conclude at Hill Cemetery, Lawrence.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of choice in memory of George.
