Arthur J. “Jim” Seagren

Arthur J. “Jim” Seagren, 79, of St. Joseph, passed away, Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:30 P.M. Saturday, June 26, 2021 at  Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Jaime Cervantes officiating.  Friends may visit with the family beginning at 1:00 P.M. Jim was born June 11, 1942 in Bradford, Pennsylvania to Arthur W. & Frances E. (Walstrom) Seagren.  He graduated from Bradford High School, Class of 1960 and from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor Degree in Architecture in 1964. On May 21, 1966, he married the former Stella Gay Painter in Lexington, Kentucky.  Jim started his career as a plant engineer at AOSmith in Mt Sterling, Kentucky and later transferred  to FMC Link Belt in Lexington, Kentucky as a SR Purchasing Agent.  In 1985 Jim began his career at Whirlpool Danville, Kentucky division as a Facilities Engineer.  In 1990 he moved his family to Southwest Michigan when he transferred to Whirlpool Headquarters as a Maintenance Planning Supervisor.  Jim finished his career with Jones Lang LaSalle when he retired as Vice President of Facilities in 2007.

Jim was a member of First Church of God Benton Heights Campus.  In his free-time he enjoyed traveling the USA & abroad, woodworking, doing home improvements and most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  Jim never missed his grandchildren’s sporting events, orchestra concerts, theatre events, band concerts, or any other family event. 

Jim is survived by his wife Gay; two daughters-Amanda (Michael) Rush of St. Joseph, Stephanie (James) Rockey of St. Joseph; three grandchildren-Brandon Rockey, Natalie & Ryan Rush; and his nephew Jeffrey (Martina) Chavis.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Carol Chavis Reinharts, his niece Jennifer Boyd,  and 2 nephews Christopher and Craig Chavis.
