Hartford Strawberry Festival This Weekend

Set to begin on Friday is the Hartford Strawberry Festival. Event Chair Patty Schroeder tells WSJM News the event had to be cancelled last year due to COVID, but they’re thrilled to be at it again this year. Everything starts Friday at noon with food and rides at Ely Park.

“Friday night, we have the crowning of the strawberry royalty, and then following that, we have John Dudley, the magician,” Schroeder said. “He’s always really popular and the kids love him. He’s a hoot. Then on Saturday, we’ll start out in the morning with cardio drumming, and we’ll have the Hartford parade at one.”

Schroeder says Saturday will also feature live music. And there will of course be strawberries.

“There’s a funnel cake with strawberries that they’re providing, and we’ll have strawberry pies as well.”

The Hartford Public Library can be thanked for the strawberry pies. New this year is that the festival will continue Sunday with rides and vendors. Schroeder says social distancing is requested, and the pie eating contest was cancelled due to COVID, but that should be back next year. You can find the full schedule right here.
