Roland H. Taylor, 91, of Watervliet, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021 at his residence.

Services celebrating his life will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma. Visitation will take place Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. Burial with Military Rites will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens.  Memorial donations in memory of Roland may be made to the Hartford General Baptist Church.  Those wishing to leave a message or share a memory online may do so by clicking on the Guestbook option on the left.

Roland was born Nov. 7, 1929 in Hackleburg, Alabama to Gurley and Mary (Mixon) Taylor.  After high school he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In June of 1955, Roland married the former Glenda Mae McCoy and the couple celebrated 64 years of marriage prior to Glenda’s passing in 2019. Roland had worked at the Whirlpool Corporation for 43 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Woodman of the World Insurance Fraternity, the Decatur VFW Post 6248, and the Elk’s Senior Golf Club.

Roland is survived by two daughters, Sharon (John) Williamson and Kimberly (Matt) Brooks, both of Watervliet; a son, Terry (Kathy) Taylor of Decatur, Ala.; two brothers Max Taylor of St. Joseph and Wayne Taylor of Mesa, Arizona; three grandchildren, Angie (Tom) Wilson of Dowagiac, Terry Taylor Jr. of Hartsell, Ala., Joe (Andrea) Taylor of Decatur, Ala. and one great grandson Eli Taylor.
