LaSata Announces Winner Of Reading Challenge

The winner of state Senator Kim LaSata’s March is Reading Month literacy challenge is Aaleya Tomorrow, a third grade student at Norton Elementary School in Three Rivers. LaSata says Tomorrow read 207 books as part of the challenge and that LaSata is “truly impressed with her efforts.” All together, students who took part in the challenge read 1,309 books. For winning, Tomorrow will get a framed award and will be invited to serve as a junior senator for a day at the state Capitol with LaSata. Other students who will receive awards are Caroline Zarotney, a fourth grader at Lake Michigan Catholic School in St. Joseph, who read 104 books, and Katelyn Brown, a fifth grader at North Elementary School in Watervliet, who read 90 books for the challenge. All K-8 students in Berrien, Cass, and St. Joseph counties were invited to take the reading challenge.
