Donald Eugene Austin, 89, of Mattawan, passed away Monday November 23, 2020 at White Oaks Assisted Living Lawton.
He was born April 30, 1931 in Kalamazoo, the son of the late Edgar Charles Austin and Morgie VIolet (Glidden) Austin.
Don served in the Army as a guard in Alamagordo, Texas. He retired from the Millwright Union 1102 in 2009 and was Known as “Polka Dot” by his many friends.
Don is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carla (Enzian) Austin, two daughters, Marcie (Paul) Dunn and Julie Lawley; three sons, Steven Austin, Edward Austin and Owen Austin, two brothers, Randy Austin, and Jack Austin, along with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Donald was preceded in death by his son, Robert Austin and his brother, Dale Austin.
There will be a graveside service held Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Maple Grove Cemetery, Mattawan, with Pastor BJ Luce officiating and military honors presented by the American Legion McGowen-Johnson Post.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw.
