Health officials are deeply concerned about the rising number of coronavirus cases across the state, especially as winter nears and more people spend time indoors. Governor Gretchen Whitmer said the next few weeks are critical for Michigan residents.

“I know we’re tired, I know it’s hard, but we gotta double down on wearing masks on and not gathering,” said Whitmer. “We’re seeing numbers increase and spread happening at gatherings at people’s homes or weddings. It’s important that we all keep our guard up especially as we’re going into the holidays and flu season. Right now we have to do more and each individual needs to take this on and be a part of the solution.”

Michigan reported 6,248 new cases and 57 additional deaths since Sunday.
