Doris May Henderson, 94, of Stevensville, MI passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at her home.

Doris was born September 15, 1926 in LaPorte, IN to John and Wilma (Cissne) Grandorf. Following graduation from LaPorte High School, Doris married her high school sweetheart, Jack Wendt, and had three children; Douglas (Maribeth) Wendt, Carol (Perry) McCalla, and Darrell (Diana) Henderson. She later married Robert Henderson and had one son, David, both of whom have preceded her in death. That marriage blessed the family with three step-children; Donna Mae Woody, Linda (Brent) Dipert, and Robert Henderson. Doris had three siblings; Janice Jones, Jean Warner, and John Grandorf, Jr. all of whom have also preceded her in death. Her very large and loving family includes many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews who affectionately referred to her as “Aunt Dodie”.

Doris was very talented, creative, hard working and generous, and was dearly loved by all who knew her. She was a bit sassy, with a fiery personality, along with a great sense of humor and a sharp wit. She enjoyed playing poker, fishing, and loved the Christmas season.

Doris owned several antique shops throughout her life, and will be remembered most from “The Classics” in Baroda. She spent many years there with her partner of forty years, James “Pat” Sutton, making countless friends, selling antiques, and creating beautiful custom floral and Christmas designs. Her memory will live in the hearts of all those she touched.

Services for Doris will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Caring Circle Hospice. Those wishing to share a memory of Doris online are encouraged to do so at www.starks-menchinger.com
