John B. Klassen Jr., 87, of Baroda, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020.
He was born on April 3, 1933 in La Porte, IN to John B. Klassen Sr. and Nettie (Thompson) Klassen. John graduated From La Porte high school and received his bachelor degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University. On September 10, 1955 he married the love of his life, Carol Beebe in Michigan City, IN.
John raised 7 children. Upon retiring after 30 years from Bendix in St. Joseph, he built and lived in 4 different homes in the Bridgman area. John and Carol were past members of Purdue Alumni Assoc. and took many trips with that group. He was a member of St. Agnes Church in Sawyer, and he loved all his church friends and family. He was best known and loved for being the father of our large family.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carol; children, Jane Klassen, Brian (Vickie) Klassen, Martin (Lori) Klassen, Anne (Kraig Hartline) Klassen-Brunner, Philip (Bev) Klassen, Stephen (Barb) Klassen, Julia (Mike) Pechtel; grandchildren, Nicholas (Crystal), Scott (Nicole), Lisa (Adam), Heather (Jason), Mark (Meghan), Sarah (Jason), AJ, Rebecca, Natalie, Nicole (Jake), Kristopher (Jennifer), Casey, Colin, Logan and Amber; great-grandchildren, Devan, Payton, Amelia, Lila, Oliver, River, Rory; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents, John and Nettie; brother, Robert L. Klassen; and son, John B. Klassen III.
A memorial service for John will be held at 6 pm on Monday, September 28, 2020 at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Visitation will take place 2 hours prior to the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan. Online condolences may be made at www.hovenfunerals.com.
