WSJM Morning News-9/24/2020

WSJM News is sponsored by Special-Lite in Decatur & Benton Harbor. There’s a good chance you’ve walked through a special-lite door when you go to a local restaurant, school, store, or plant.

In this edition:

  • Congress should not be allowed to go into recess until it approves a COVID-19 stimulus bill.
  • U.S. Senator Kamala Harris is making no doubt of the importance of Michigan in the presidential election.
  • Legislation from state Senator Aric Nesbitt would allow Michigan’s community colleges to offer bachelor’s degrees in nursing.
  • A group of parents rallied Wednesday morning at the state Capitol.
  • WSJM News has to correct something we reported earlier this week. The Benton Harbor Area Schools Board of Education met on Tuesday and voted to grant emergency powers to Superintendent Andrae Townsel to respond quickly to pandemic developments. We reported as much. However, about a half hour after the board held that vote, it went back and rescinded the powers it just granted to Townsel. We didn’t report that.
  • A Benton Township man is charged with attempted murder after a crash on Tuesday night.
  • If you haven’t done so, fill out your 2020 Census.
