If you’ve got bags and bags of pop and beer cans piled up because of COVID-19, imagine how the beer and soft drink wholesalers feel. Many, like the president of the Michigan Soft Drink Association, Darek Bajema, says it’s time to update the bottle law in Michigan.
“This legislation before the House will ensure that businesses on the front lines in the fight to protect our Great Lakes, like beer and soft drink distributors, are able to make much-needed improvements in infrastructure to keep this program running effectively,” said Bajema.
He says bills in the House would also set aside money to investigate and prosecute criminals running in pallets of full beverages from other states and Canada where they didn’t pay the bottle deposit.
