Nadine was born in Center Town, Kentucky October 16, 1924 and was one of six children born to John and Myrtle (Loney) Stevens. The family moved to Michigan in 1936. She married her true love James Trail, also from Kentucky, who she met in Michigan. They had 4 children. Nadine is survived by her sons Ronald Trail of Eau Claire, Dennis (Barb) Trail of Benton Harbor, and Steve (Tia) Trail of Berrien Springs, sister Betty Vickory of Hampstead, NC, a niece who was like a daughter, Nadine (Fred) Steinke, 4 grandchildren: Melissa (Mike) August of League City, TX, Tony Trail of Benton Harbor, Matt (Amanda) Trail of Stevensville, and Zachary Trail of Irvine CA., 4 great-grandchildren: Austin Hampton, Myles August, Moses and Marley Trail, and many nieces and nephews and countless other family and friends who were blessed by her loving kindness. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, and oldest son, Kenny, who passes at age 2 while James was fighting in WWII. James never got to meet his son. She was also preceded by her sister Cloris Fisher and her brothers Ed, Tom, and Neil Stevens.

Nadine challenged herself to go back to school to obtain her GED and she did. She graduated from Lakeshore high School when she was in her 60s. She retired from Sears and Roebuck and was the last founding member and Matriarch of Safe harbor Church of God where she held positions of Women’s Missionary leader, Victory Leaders Band Director, and state records clerk.

Nadine touched the lives of so many people with her smile, love, prayers, and generosity. She maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. She is loved by many and will remain in our hearts and memories forever.
