Austin E. McCarver, 91 of Watervliet passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at South Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Private family services will take place 1:oo pm Friday, April 3 at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Watervliet.  Those wishing to leave an online message of comfort for the family may do so by using the “Guestbook” link located on this page.

Austin was born August 19, 1928 in Madison County, Tennessee to Wayne F. and  Rachel A. ( Staggs) McCarver.  He served in the National Guard for two years then worked for Auto Specialties until they closed.  Austin also owned his own lawn care business and had worked for Walmart as a greeter until 1996.  He attended the First Free Will Baptist Church and loved singing and playing his guitar in a country band.  Austin was a hard working man of his word who believed in paying any debts he felt he owed, monetary or otherwise.

Survivors include a sister Edna Foster; daughters Dorothy(Bruce) George, Barbara McCarver, Austin McCarver, and Cheryl(Leon)Smith; grandchildren, David(Julie) George, Keith(Lori) George, Kevin(Valerie) George, Kenny George, Jason McCarver, Terri(Javier)Lopez, Molly(Rod) Laylin, Jared McCarver,  Aryenne McCarver,  Jeremy Russell, Samantha Russell, Aaron McCarver and many great grandchildren.

Austin was preceded in death by his brother Floyd, a sister Anne, a daughter Melba, and granddaughter Kelley.
