Luvern (Bryant) Hoyle

Luvern “Vern” Hoyle 70 transitioned on March 11, 2020, at Caretell Inn in St. Joseph, MI.

Luvern “Vern” Hoyle was born on March 13, 1949, in Panama City Fl, to the union of Addie Mae Thomas and Joseph Bryant.  She was the youngest of six. While walking home from school she met an Airforce man named Willie Marvin Hoyle and the two dated for her whole Junior year, and they married June 10, 1967.

Luvern then moved to Tallassee Al with her in-laws and graduated from Robert Russa Moton High School in Tallassee, Al once she graduated, she went to Germany to be with her husband.  After his tour of duty, Luvern and her husband headed to Benton Harbor, MI where she went to school in the 10th grade with her cousin-sister Lillie Ruth Collier.

Luvern had recently joined church at Word of Truth Ministries, under the leadership of Bishop James Hightower before she took ill.

She leaves precious and fond memories; one daughter Kenya (Rev Thomas) Fields of Benton Harbor, MI, one son Marvin (Kennethia) Hoyle, of Kalamazoo, MI  Ex-husband and friend Marvin Hoyle of Benton Harbor, MI, One brother Woodrow Anderson of Kalamazoo, MI, Special cousin and sister Lillie Ruth Collier of Grand Rapids, MI.  One sister-in-law- Precious Hoyle of Eclectic Al, one brother-in-law JT Smith of Tuskegee Al, special niece Betty Gaines of Panama City FL. Extended brothers and sisters, Carolyn Booth, Jessie (Mary) Whitfield, James Cooper Jr, and Larry (Pam) Cooper, Dennis Cooper, Rose Cooper, all of Benton Harbor, MI. Jackie Cooper of Muskegon MI.

She also leaves to cherish six grandchildren: Devarez Hoyle of Dowagiac, MI, Zavion Hoyle, Zion Hoyle, Amari Hoyle, all of Benton Harbor, MI, Marvin Hoyle Jr, and Kamarra Hoyle of Kalamazoo, MI. One great-grandson Ty’shon Hoyle of Dowagiac, MI. She also leaves precious memories of friends, her childhood friend Earnestine Pittman of Atlanta, GA, Kathy Rawls, and Ida McGee, and the McFarland family of Benton Harbor, MI. James Bracken of Paducah Kentucky.

A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents Addie Mae Thomas and Joseph Bryant, brothers Richard  Thomas,  Busta Lee Thomas, Robert Whitfield Jr, LC Cooper, Willie Whitfield,  sisters Flossie Anderson, and Alma Patterson,  Aunt Lillie Mae Smith, sister-in-law Pauline Anderson,  niece Alma Jean Patterson, special cousin Dionne Whitehead, godparents Sam and Annie Mae Cooper niece  Tavena Cooper, extended family Shirley Fields and Beverly Fields.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Robbins Brothers Funeral Home, Benton Harbor.
