She’s said repeatedly she has no interest in being on the ticket as the running mate for the Democratic presidential nominee, but Gretchen Whitmer is being talked about for that possibility. MSNBC’s Brian Williams asked Democratic front-runner and former Vice President Joe Biden about his list.

Williams asked if any of the figures “that have emerged from this coronavirus crisis, thinking specifically of the governor of Michigan, if any of those figures have lengthened the list?” in a clip released by MSNBC.

“She hasn’t lengthened the list, she made the list in my mind two months ago,” replied Biden with a laugh.

Biden added he’s planning to have a list of six to ten women later this month to be vetted to be his vice presidential nominee if he continues to hold his lead over Senator Bernie Sanders and secure the party’s nomination. If Whitmer is selected and becomes Vice President, history will be made on several fronts. Not only would she become the first female Vice President in American history, but Garlin Gilchrist would then become the first African-American governor ever in the state of Michigan.
