Grand Valley State University is ready to help in the fight against coronavirus. Spectrum Health plans to use the GVSU campus as the site of up to 250 hospital beds. GVSU president Philomena Mantella says the preparations are now underway.

“We’ve had a contract in place that Spectrum Health would use our health sciences campus as a hospital facility,” says Mantella. “What’s underway currently is the transformation of that facility should it be called upon for use in this pandemic crisis.”

GVSU officials say they studied hospital models in other states reaching capacity with COVID-19 patients and decided to take action and begin more drills.
