Muhammad, Singleton Advance In Benton Harbor Mayoral Primary

Benton Harbor Mayor Marcus Muhammad will face City Commissioner Ron Singleton in the election November 5. They were the top vote getters by a wide margin in Tuesday’s primary, taking 88% of the vote combined. Muhammad received 57% with 393 votes, with Singleton second with 211 votes, which was 31%.

The other four candidates were led by Commissioner Juanita Henry with 31 votes, followed by Commissioner C.F. Jones with 16, Margie Carter with 15, and Jamie Davis only had 11 votes. Muhammad is seeking a second term as mayor. Singleton served as interim Benton Harbor city manager in 2000.
