Preparations are underway for one of the most popular summer events held each year in downtown St. Joseph. St. Joe Today’s Amy Zapal tells WSJM News it’s the 23rd annual Chalk the Block, set for August 2 through August 4.

“The most exciting thing about those days is that it brings so many of our residents and our visitors out into our downtown area to enjoy some really great street art,” Zapal said. “We have local artists, we have amateur artists, we have professional artists, we have traveling artists who come in from around the region and the country.”

Zapal says the artists will start drawing their street art on Saturday morning, August 3, and they’ll be out there for Sunday, August 4. She notes there are a variety of other activities taking place downtown for the weekend. They include a Friday night concert, the Saturday farmers market, and a free movie. Zapal recommends that everyone check out StJoeToday.com to plan ahead for the weekend.
