Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is calling on drivers to be aware of motorcycles. At an event in Grand Rapids today, says they’ve added strategies including knowing motorcyclist hand signals for turning and stopping, being on high alert on local streets and turning left and double checking blind spots to their driver education program for teens. She says they’ll be sharing those tips for everyone in a variety of ways.

“Including radio, social media, and television monitors at gas pumps, buses, inside of one of our 131 branch offices for the Secretary of State, and on billboards located along select roadways that are deemed high-risk crash corridors here in Michigan,” said Benson.

The “Look Twice” initiative is touted as a first-of-its-kind campaign promotes motorcyclist awareness, safety and education among motorists. Historically, education campaigns to boost motorcyclists’ safety have focused almost solely on motorcyclists, but Michigan’s other road users are also a part of the equation to make the state’s roads safe for everyone.
