There has been an arrest in a drive-by shooting reported last month in Benton Township. The Benton Township Police Department tells us the shooting happened the afternoon of March 23 in the parking lot of the Meijer store on Pipestone. A man reported he’d been walking through the grass between the Meijer and the Victory Lube Car Wash when the suspect stopped his vehicle in the Meijer parking lot, brandished a semi-automatic handgun, and discharged four rounds. No one was hit, and the suspect took off in his vehicle heading east. Police say they developed Nicholas Bransumb as a suspect, and he was picked up Friday during a traffic stop. They say a search of the vehicle turned up a handgun. Branscumb was taken to the Berrien County Jail on charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, felony firearm, and carrying a concealed weapon.
