Rosie E. Nimtz-Tanis, 86, of Eau Claire, MI passed away, Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at her home.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Maynard Schoen officiating. Rosie will be laid to rest at Shanghai Memorial Cemetery, Pipestone Twp. Friends may visit Tuesday, March 12, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to The Chapel EFC, Rejoice Radio or Billy Graham Ev. Assoc. Rosie was born in Eau Claire, MI on June 11, 1932 to Rein and Tabea (Wolf) Priebe. She was a graduate of Benton Harbor High School class of 1950. Rosie married William Nimtz on March 12, 1955 at Clay Street Baptist Church in Benton Harbor, MI. They spent 51 years together before his passing in April 2006. Prior to raising her family, she worked at VM and then raised 3 children while being a housewife and working alongside her husband on the family farm. Afterwards, she worked as a statistician for the USDA for many years – she enjoyed meeting other farmers. Rosie’s church was her passion, she loved being involved in the card ministry as well as women’s bible study. She also loved her family get togethers so much and also attending family activities such as school/church programs, band/orchestra concerts, sport games and other functions that her family and friends were part of. In her spare time, she loved to travel, see beautiful scenery and tend to her flowers, especially her roses. Rosie loved the farm life and lived on the same road her entire life.

She is survived by her husband David “Dave” Tanis, they spent 4 wonderful years together; children, Alan Nimtz of Eau Claire, Lori (Rick) Lear of St. Joseph, and Rodney Nimtz of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Timothy, Katie, Erica, Megan, Brandon and Allison; great-grandson Trevor; step-children Ronald (Tina) Tanis, Deborah (Burt) Greve and Daniel (Paula) Tanis; siblings Sieg (Miriam) Priebe, Rich (Barb) Priebe, George (Linda) Priebe and Roger (Karen) Priebe; nine step-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Bill Nimtz, her sister Dorothy (Jean) Lake.
