Malcolm “David” Jennings, Jr.

Malcolm “David” Jennings, Jr., 83, of Stevensville, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place at a later date. David was born on May 28, 1935, in Chenango Bridge, NY, to Malcolm, Sr., & Christine (Holmes) Jennings. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Clarkson University and continued his education at Clarkson by earning a Master of Engineering. In 1958, David began his service to our country by enlisting in the United States Army where he attained the rank of first lieutenant in the Ordnance Corps. David was an incredibly intellectual man and had a passion for computer technology. After returning home from active duty, he began working as a systems analyst for IBM. He later worked for and retired from NCR. On August 3, 1985, David married Frances “Betty” Redder in Ithaca, NY. Together the two of them enjoyed traveling and exploring new places, attending St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and enjoying their blended family of six children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. David was also an avid gardener, and enjoyed watching and caring for wildlife. No matter rain, shine or snow, David always made sure there was food in his bird feeders.

David is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Patrice Jennings, Malcolm Jennings, Kristen (Philip) Coffin, Frank (Amy) Redder, Ed (Elyse) Redder, and Joshua (Jennifer) Redder; grandchildren, Parker, Zach, Henry, Caroline, Bradley, Katelyn (Jim), and Nicholas (Lauren); and great-granddaughters, Hayden and Savannah.

David was preceded in death by parents, Malcolm, Sr., & Christine, and sister, Ruth.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks and Menchinger Funeral Home, St. Joseph.
