Carnell “Bootsy” Jackson

Carnell “Bootsy” Jackson, 39, passed away February 27, 2019 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo after a five-year battle with cancer. He was born June 1, 1979 to Martha Jackson and Carnell Whitiker in Chicago, Illinois. The family moved to South Haven when Carnell was fourteen years old. He was a 1998 graduate of South Haven High School. Carnell worked as a line cook at Clementine’s in South Haven for ten years before becoming too ill to work. Carnell loved his family and to spend time with his kids. He loved basketball and to help coach his children’s sports teams. He was sweet and kind. He loved movies and to make people laugh.

He is preceded in death by two brothers – Demetrius Jackson and Lee Jackson. He is also preceded in death by his daughter’s mother – Fawn Raymond.

He is survived by his parents – Martha Jackson of South Haven and Carnell Whitiker of Mississippi, brother – Anthony Jackson of Holland, long-time-love – Allison Pott, and three children – Mianna Jackson, Damon Jackson, Evan Jackson, and granddaughter – NeVaeh all of South Haven. Many cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive.

Visitation will take place Saturday, March 9, from 3 :00 to 4:00 PM at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home.  Memorial services will follow at 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
