The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch for Saturday night and Sunday. The watch covers Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, says weather service meteorologist Kyle Brown.

“We’re expecting winds from the wst sustained at 30 to 40 miles per hour with frequent gusts up to 45 and 50 miles per hour,” Brown said.

Brown says everyone should be prepared for the damage that wind could do.

“We are certainly expecting that there will be some power outages, mostly likely due to downed tree branches on power lines or even downed trees themselves,” Brown said.

Brown recommends everyone secure any outdoor property they may have and be ready for the power to go out. He says the high winds are the result of severe weather out west. He says it’ll move into the plains Saturday and then bring Michigan high winds on Sunday. They are expected to begin Saturday night.
