It’s going to be a while before a popular Hagar Township restaurant is serving again. North Berrien Fire and Rescue Chief Mike Mattix says there is a lot of smoke damage inside DiMaggio’s Pizza on M-63.
“We received a call around 6:30 this morning for a reported fire at DiMaggio’s. First units arrived on scene and encountered heavy smoke coming from the south end of the building,” Mattix said. The fire was contained to that area, which includes the bar, but Mattix says there is heavy heat and smoke damage throughout.
No one was hurt, and the cause is still under investigation.
