A donation of $200,000 is being made to a Michigan Department of Health and Human Services dental program this year by the Delta Dental Foundation. The foundation is the charitable arm of the non-profit insurer, Delta Dental. Executive Director Teri Battaglieri tells WSJM News the money will be used to provide sealants to elementary and middle school students through the state Oral Health Program’s SEAL Michigan initiative.

“Any kids in schools around the state are eligible for the program, but in particular, the program is offered in schools where there are a high number of students on the free and reduced lunch program, low income students,” Battaglieri said.

Last year, the program served nearly 6,700 children, with approximately 40,000 served in total since it began. To date, the Delta Foundation has given more than $1 million to the program. Battaglieri tells us Delta is the main contributor to SEAL Michigan as the company aims to help reduce tooth decay among kids. You can learn more about the SEAL Michigan program right here.
