Albert T. “Al” Vanderhoof

February 13, 1930 – January 6, 2019

Albert T. “Al” Vanderhoof, 88, of Stevensville, passed away, Sunday, January 6, 2019 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 11, 2019 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Sondra Levin officiating.  Burial will follow at B’nai Sholom Cemetery in Benton Harbor.  Those wishing to sign Al’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.

Al was born February 13, 1930 in Nina, Wisconsin.  He moved to Benton Harbor as a youngster and graduated from Benton Harbor High School, Class of 1948.  Al served his country in the United States Army, and upon his return began his career as an accountant & bookkeeper.  He owned and operated Al Vanderhoof Accounting, and never fully retired as he still had several long-time clients.  Al was a member of Temple B’nai Shalom and a former member of the Benton Harbor-St. Joseph Rotary Club.  He thoroughly enjoyed his work.

Al is survived by his wife Iris Nudelman Smith, whom he married on August 13, 1969 in St. Joseph; two brothers-Leonard Vanderhoof of Palo Alto, CA & Clyde (Martha) Vanderhoof of Martha, VA; his sister Susan Vanderhoof; several nieces & nephews; and a family cousin Harriet Israel of Naples, FL.
