Charles Richard Jarvis

aaa-395

Charles’ life began November 25, 1925 in Riverside, Michigan.  His passion for work started at the age of 10 he pedaled papers until he got a job working at Old’s Dairy where he rode his bike to work.  Charles then worked alongside his mother pedaling fruits and vegetables.  All of those opportunities just lead up to him being old enough to work alongside his father; first in the shoe repair store, then on his father’s 80 acre farm, and eventually as a painter for Jarvis & Sons Painting.  Charles enjoyed a 60 year career in painting.  When he wasn’t working you could find Charles gardening and he was known for his huge heads of sweet cabbage.  One of Charles favorite places to go was Farmer’s County Club for lunch and he was a fixture of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ for over 70 years.

Charles greatest joy came from his loving family which includes; two sons Richard (Michelle) Jarvis and Kevin (Nancy) Jarvis; six grandchildren Aimee, Jamie, Adam, Jim, Scott, and Ashley; 11 great grandchildren; a sister Ella Stubelt; and many nieces and nephews.  Charles died Saturday, January 5.  His wife and love of his life Mary, his daughter Karen Pendleton, a great great grandson Liam Warner, and three siblings Brian Jarvis, Marie Schmaltz, and Rita Radtke precede Charles in death.
