Erwin D. Watson, Sr., 79, of South Haven, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born June 10, 1939 to Lloyd and Jessie Watson in Flint, Michigan.  Erwin married Patricia Koblinski on September 28, 1957 in Flint Michigan. They shared 40 years of marriage before her passing in 1997. Erwin was a head of his time as a stay at home dad.  He enjoyed spendingtime with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He had a passion for animal husbandry along with gardening. His passion for raising milk goats lead him to receiving a best in state goat milking production award and his breeding of chihuahuas produced a Grand Champion (CT). Erwin was a member of St. Basil Catholic Church.

Erwin is preceded in death by his parents, his wife – Patricia Watson, and brothers – Velden and Frankie Watson and sisters – Jeannie Wellman and Corinna Slavich.

He is survived by his children – AnnaMarie Deater (Dennis Etter) of Grand Haven,  Erwin (Vonnie) Watson, Jr. of South Haven, and Roxann (Don) Merrill of Grand Junction, brother – Allie Watson of Flint.  10 grandchildren (Mike, Jenny(Jennifer), Trina, Amanda, Debbie, Buddy(Erwin), DJ(Daniel), Carl, Alex(Alexandra), Deena, 13 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews also survive.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 8, at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home.  A scripture service will talk place at 7:30 PM and visitation on Wednesday, January 9, at 10:00 AM.  Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 9 at St. Basil Catholic Church in South Haven with Father Jim Morris officiating. Erwin will be laid to rest in Stephenson Cemetery, Casco Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Caring Circle Hospice, 05055 Blue Star Highway, South Haven, MI 49090, or The American Heart Association, 208 LaSalle St., Suite 1500, Chicago, IL 60604-1242.
