Cecil Whitelow 64 transitioned on December 29, 2018, at home surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life service will be held on January 4, 2019, at Word Up Ministry at 641 N Crystal Ave, Benton Harbor, MI 49022 with visitation starting at 10:00 am followed with services at 11:00 am.

On May 1, 1954, Cecil Whitelow Jr. was born to the union of Cecil and Ruby Whitelow Sr. at Mercy Hospital in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

For a decade, Cecil battled illnesses related from a back injury before Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ transitioned him on Saturday, December 29, 2018. At the time of his passing, he was at home where he loved entertaining his family and friends.

Cecil, at an early age, accepted Christ at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. William Ellis. Because he loved to travel, he left Michigan and held jobs in various states.  While living in Louisiana, he drove trucks for Zett 7-Up, which was a job he truly enjoyed. In 2004 shortly after moving back to Benton Harbor, Cecil joined Word Up Apostolic Ministries, under the leadership of Bishop O.C. Isom Jr.

Cecil also owned and operated a secondhand furniture store, located on Buss St. for numerous years. There he was able to display his vibrant personality and a hearty laugh with his regular customers and community. He genuinely loved being around people and his style of dress always kept him the center of attention wherever he went.

Cecil is survived by a Son Cecil Whitelow III of Columbus, Ohio, brothers George Whitelow of Smith Creek, Michigan, Ronnie Whitelow, Donald (Susan) Roseman, Charles Harmon and a sister Willie Marie Ickom, longtime friend and companion Connie Davenport all of Benton Harbor, Michigan  as well as a host of Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends.

Cecil is preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Ruby Whitelow Sr., Grandparents, Jessie, and Marie Roseman, his Uncle’s Elliott, Albert, and Jesse Roseman.
