Roy O Bennett, age 81, of Benton Harbor MI passed away peacefully on December 20, 2018 surrounded by his loving wife and children.

He was born in Abraham, West Virginia, on December 11, 1937 to Orda and Leona Bennett. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era and was honorably discharged in 1963.

Roy had a passion for the outdoors, he especially enjoyed riding his four-wheeler to the fishing pond, watching the deer on his trail cams, and harvesting his chestnuts from trees he grew from seed.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margaret, his children, Dale (Veronica) Bragg, David Bennett, Debbie Rushing, Linda (Wayne) Scott, Kathy (Alan) Helbling, Lonnie (Kari) Bennett, and Loretta (Tony) Jacobs.  Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sisters, Theda (Ray) Fox, Wanda Glover, Ethel (Mervil) Plumbley, Myrtle Nugen and his beloved chihuahua Lulu.

In addition to his parents Roy was preceded in death by, brothers Rio, Arlo, and Ernest, and sisters Geneva and Mogene.

A viewing and time of sharing with the family will begin at 12 noon followed by Military Rites at 1 pm on Thursday December 27th at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma.  Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery in Bainbridge Township.  In honor of Roy donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the American Lung Association or the Shepherd Center which specializes in Brain  and Spinal Cord injury rehabilitation, both which have a personal meaning to the family.
