Benton Twp Bank Robbery Wednesday

Police are investigating a robbery on Wednesday at the Horizon Bank on Napier Avenue in Benton Township. The Benton Township Police Department tells us officers were called out just before noon. Bank employees reported the suspect walked into the bank and placed a pear-shaped object on the counter while demanding money. He said he would detonate an explosive device if the teller didn’t comply. The suspect was able to make off with an undisclosed amount of cash. He was last seen running north on Reeder Street. The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department brought in a K9, but the suspect wasn’t found. No one was hurt in the robbery, and police ask anyone with information to contact them. The suspect is described as a black male wearing a hat, a light colored jacket, and dark pants
