Marian (Michalik) Ostruszka

Marian Louise Ostruszka passed away peacefully at Woodland Terrace of Paw Paw Lake on December 3, at the age of 92, with family at her bedside.
Marian was born on March 25th, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois. She grew up in Chicago, graduated from Holy Family Academy and then attended business school. Marian then worked at National State Bank in Chicago and later for the Popeil Brothers. In 1956 Marian and her husband Edward moved to Coloma Michigan to be closer to her grandmother. In 1968 she started working at the Watervliet Paper Company and worked there until her retirement. Her hobbies included golf, bowling, gardening and volunteering at St. Joseph Catholic School in Watervliet where she was affectionately known as “Mrs. O”. She enjoyed travel and for several years wintered in Arizona.
Marian’s greatest joy came from spending time with her loving family which includes: four children Mark (Melissa) Ostruszka, Ellen (Kevin) Hatfield, Diane Himes, and Dan (Linda) Ostruszka; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a brother Arthur (Beverlee) Michalik and many nieces and nephews. They will remember her for her independence, resourcefulness and pleasant nature. Marian was an excellent cook and baker and many of her recipes are favorites of family and friends alike.
Her husband Edward, parents Edmund and Helen (Bonski) Michalik, and a son-in-law Richard Himes precede Marian in death. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Watervliet on Friday, December 7, at 11:00 am. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Thursday, December 6, with Recitation of the Rosary at 7:30 pm at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet.
