George Miles Jr.

aaa-259

George Miles 66 of Benton Harbor, transitioned at Lakeland Hospital in St Joseph, MI on November 25, 2018. Legacy farewell services are pending at this time.

George Miles Jr. passed into The Great Beyond to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, November 25th, 2018.

He was born to Portia and George Miles Sr. on June 3rd, 1952 in Hayti, Missouri. He joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. He had many friends and never met a stranger. His hobbies included fishing, watching westerns, singing, and dancing.  He was also very blessed with the gift of gab as he loved to talk and tell you his opinion. (whether you wanted it or not)

We know that George is not dead, he is just away.

The words of John 14: 1-3,” Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

He leaves to mourn, his mother, Portia L. Jones of Benton Harbor, Michigan, a son, George Miles Bolton of Grand Rapids, Michigan, a brother, William Ford of Freeport, Illinois, three sisters, Thelma M. Ruffin of Sauk Village, Illinois, Debra L. Parks (Jim), of Freeport Illinois, and Alicia M. Jones-McCalvin (Lanny) of Benton Harbor, Michigan. Three Aunts, Maggie Gorman of Kansas City Missouri, Ida Holton of Benton Harbor Michigan, and Zelma Miles of St. Louis, Missouri. He also has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, and friends. He also has a special friend in Calvin Bradley of Benton Harbor Michigan.  Calvin would at times come get George to go to his home to watch TV. He then would make sure that he got safely back home and in the house.

He has a very special friend in his brother-in-law, Lanny McCalvin.  He knew that he could count on Lanny regardless of if George was feeling a bit down or ready to give Lanny a piece of his mind. He was there to assist George from the beginning when he first had an illness in 2016 until the very moment an Angel of the Lord escorted him home on November 25th, 2018.

George was preceded in death by his father, George Miles Sr., brother Douglas Wayne Camper, and step-father Willie Lee Jones.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Robbins Brothers Funeral Home, Benton Harbor.
