Marijuana Legalization And Employers

With the possibility of marijuana being legalized by voters in next month’s election, what will this mean for job applicants? Mary Corrado is president and CEO of the American Society of Employers and told Michigan News Network fewer employers are screening for pot use because if they did, they wouldn’t have any workers.

“It is a job seeker’s market,” Corrado said. “You’re trying all areas to find workers, and that drug screen on the marijuana might not raise as high of a red flag as in the past it did.”

Corrado says employers are screening for other drugs, as they are watching to see how some areas of labor will approach the issue. That’s especially where public safety can play a role.
