Berrien Springs School Proposal

Berrien Springs Public Schools is asking voters for approval of a bond in next month’s elections. The district is hoping to raise just under $20 million for a new performing arts center and an indoor athletics space. It says the performing arts center would provide classroom and instructional space for the choir program, the band program, drama and musical productions, and possibly technology-related programs like robotics and computer science. The athletic facility would provide auxiliary gym and practice space for up to three teams at once, more team locker rooms, a new fitness and weight room, and wrestling and competitive cheer practice space. Right now, performances for the school district are done at Andrew University, and there’s not enough space for multiple athletic teams to practice indoors at once. Voters will have their say on the 20 year bond on November 6. A full explanation of the proposal is on the school district’s website.
