A possible settlement could be coming in a tax dispute between the city of Benton Harbor and Harbor Shores. At this week’s meeting, the Benton Harbor City Commissioners heard details about a proposed settlement from the golf course in a tax tribunal case. It concerns ten pieces of property with their owners disputing the value of the parcels. Back in August, the city commission rejected a settlement offer in the case. It would have cost the city about $33,000. The new settlement would cost the city about $27,000. Commissioners Monday night instructed the city attorney to seek clarification on the offer from Harbor Shores and to possibly make a counter offer.
