SJ Schools In Good Financial Shape

The latest financial audit has found St. Joseph Public Schools to be in good shape. At a meeting this past week, the board of education was told the district in the last year spent slightly less than what it took in, with both figures around $27 million. Superintendent Ann Cardon also told WSJM News they tucked some money away for a rainy day.

“We put about $400,000 into our fund balance, but that was what we were projecting to do as well, and so our revenues came in about what we projected and so did our expenditures,” Cardon said.

Cardon credited the business staff.

“to have the budget to actual come in as close as it was is a huge accomplishment, and like I said earlier, a hug sense of confidence for the board as they’re planning knowing that those forecasts are going to be accurate,” Cardon said.

Auditors from Kruggel Lawton CPA noted the district stayed very close to its budget. Board President Amy Porritt-Peirce described the financial report as A++. She thanked Cardon and the business office.
