Help from Indiana Michigan Power is on standby on the Gulf Coast to respond to power outages caused by Hurricane Michael. The storm made landfall Wednesday afternoon in the Florida Panhandle and will soak Alabama, Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas and Virginia before moving back across the Atlantic Ocean this weekend, headed toward Ireland. I&M sent around 300 employees to Decatur, Alabama on Tuesday, and they will meet Thursday with crews from Gulf Power to determine the priority areas for power restoration work. The utility says the team is mostly comprised of forestry and power line crews. I&M officials say they remain committed to providing mutual assistance whenever possible, and says crews are dedicated to safely getting power back on wherever they’re needed.
