There will be an open house and meeting next week for Berrien County residents to learn more about plans to create a trail along Red Arrow Highway in southern Berrien County. Berrien County Parks Director Brian Bailey tells WSJM News the Linear County Park is a plan made possible due to cooperation between Berrien County Parks Department and the Berrien County Road Department as well as Lake, Chikaming, and New Buffalo townships. It would go from Bridgman to Galien River County Park
“We’d designate either existing or new trail heads or parking areas,” Bailey said. “There may be a possibility where there is park land available right now that is township owned or county owned or state owned where we might be able to designate those areas as parking areas, and then a separated trail.”
Bailey says an open house for everyone to learn more will be held on Wednesday, September 26 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Chikaming Township Hall. There will also be a meeting that night from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Chikaming Township Fire Department in the same complex so residents can offer more input.
