Michigan Attorney General and Republican nominee for governor Bill Schuette is touting the success of his anti-bullying OK2SAY program for schools as it begins its fourth year. He spoke to students at Kentwood’s Crestwood Middle School this week about the anonymous tip line yesterday and said it’s becoming a national model.

“It’s being adopted, portions of it, by the state of Texas,” Schuette said. “I got a call from the governor of Texas wanting to know about OK2Say, and after the tragedy in Florida as well, they’re implementing portions of it.”

The program can be used to anonymously report bullying, violence, threats, and even concerns someone wants to harm themselves. The attorney general’s office says in 2017, OK2SAY technicians received 1,205 tips regarding threats of suicide, 961 tips regarding bullying, and 390 tips regarding self-harm.
