James “Jim” Orville Oliver, 80, of Eau Claire passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018 at his home.

He was born March 16, 1938 in Lockbourne, Ohio, the son of Melvin and Sarah Oliver. He was a PFC E3 serving his country in the United States Army. He worked for Technisand for many years and retired in 2002. Jim was an avid hunter and loved to fish.

Jim is survived by his children: Diane (Jerry) Kay of Pana, Ill., Karen (David) Quinn, Barry (Debby) Oliver, Jim (Margie) Oliver and Mary (Jim) Riecke, all of Eau Claire; brothers: Ted, Don and Chuck Oliver all of Ohio, Warren Oliver of Kentucky, and Paul Oliver of Kansas; 11 grandchildren: Sheena (Nick) Bailey and Barry “Bug” Oliver Jr. of Eau Claire, Michelle (Daniel) Sonnenberg of St. Joseph, Sethrey (Katie) Davis of Savannah, Tenn., Matthew, Ceili, Darby, Aiden, Brenna, Finn, and Teegan Oliver of Eau Claire; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Oliver; his parents, Melvin and Sarah Oliver; brothers, Ray Hayes and Ralph Oliver; sister, Mary Cantrell; and grandson, David “DJ” Quinn Jr.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at Bowerman Funeral Home in Eau Claire. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at the funeral home, with Pastor Ronald Simcox officiating. Burial will be in Shanghai Memorial Cemetery, with a reception to follow at Lifegate Baptist Church. Memories may be shared online at www.bowermanfuneral.com.
