Frederick Thomas Kline Sr, 77, of Buchanan, MI passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Center for Hospice in South Bend, IN.

He was born February 7, 1941 in Buchanan, MI to the late Jeremiah and Clara Kline.  On January 22, 1965, Frederick married Roxie A. Good.  Frederick was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps honorably discharged in 1964. He was the first president of the Buchanan Rocket Football Organization when he and a friend started the program, member of the Miss Buchanan, Inc. for over 20 years. He also coached floor hockey, girls and boys softball, football, and basketball. For more than 15 years, he was a referee for high school and youth football and basketball.

Frederick is survived by his wife of 53 years, Roxie; children, Brandy (Dennis) Lowrance of Buchanan, Fred (Stacey) Kline Jr of Niles, Larry Kline of Buchanan; siblings, Jeremiah “Bud” Kline of Holiday, FL, Virginia Asmus of Niles, Elizabeth (Don) Cornwell of Buchanan, and twin brother, Edward (Karen) Kline of Buchanan; five grandchildren, Zachary (Britani) Kline of Niles, Cody (Meghan) Kline of Dowagiac, Kayla Lowrance of South Bend, IN, Dakota Lowrance of Buchanan, Jake LaLone of Niles; two great-grandchildren that he treasured, Christopher Hendryx of Buchanan, and Ezra Kline of Niles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeremiah and Clara; sisters, Wanita Kline, Laura Graham; brothers, Lawrence “Bip” Kline and Vern Kline.

Funeral service for Frederick will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Pokagon United Methodist Church, Dowagiac, with Pastor Sean Kidd officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service.  Memorial donations may be made to Pokagon United Methodist Church, 31393 Kansas St., Dowagiac, MI 49047, or Crystal Springs Children’s Camp, 33774 Crystal Springs St., Dowagiac, MI 49047.
