Edna Mae Best

Edna Mae Best, 94 of Buchanan, MI, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Center for Hospice in South Bend, IN.

She was born April 7, 1924 in Foley, AL to the late Stewart and Elouise Savely. On June 21, 1941, Edna married Richard M. Best at a ceremony in Cassopolis, MI, who preceded her in death October 20, 2009. Edna and Richard were lifelong members of Berrien County Youth Fair; they also enjoyed square dancing with a local club. Edna enjoyed being a homemaker as well as cooking for her family and friends. She was always ready with a helping hand.

Edna is survived by her son, Richard “Dick” (Sherry) Best of Buchanan, MI; daughters, Joann (Gerald) Ott of Niles, MI, Jacqueline (Terry) Bannister of Buchanan, MI; half-sister, Joyce Pawlowski of Shelbyville, MI; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Stewart and Elouise; husband, Richard; half-brothers, Steve Savely and Jack Savely; and two grandchildren.

Funeral service for Edna will be at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Hoven Funeral Home Inc, Buchanan. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan. Visitation will be from Noon to 1: 30 prior to the service.
