The Wallace Avenue reconstruction project taking place in St. Joseph is on track with the road expected to be open to traffic by the time the new school year starts.

St. Joe City Engineer Tim Zebell tells us that’s assuming all goes well. He says Wallace between South State Street and Stadium will be opened up to traffic in time for next Friday’s season opening football game at St. Joseph High School, although the surface will still be rough.

Those who go to the game will be able to reach Stadium Drive on Wallace from the east, although access on Wallace from Lakeshore to the west will not be available. Drivers coming from the west will have to use Kingsley.

Zebell tells us the city is aware of the activity taking place at the school and is taking steps to ensure there won’t be traffic jams with the big game on Friday. You can follow all of the latest on the Wallace Reconstruction project at the city’s website.
