Dangerous Heatwave Looming

It’s going to be very hot over the next few days in Michigan, especially in southern lower Michigan. The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued an excessive heat watch from Friday afternoon through Saturday evening.

“Temperatures across much of the Lower Peninsula will be into the 90s, but with the humidity, it will make it feel like 100 to 105 or even greater on Saturday,” says NWS meteorologist Nathan Jeruzal. He says that kind of heat is dangerous for elderly people and people who are ill. Jeruzal is advising people to stay in air conditions if possible and drink plenty of water. Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula will also be baking, so you can’t even escape with a trip up north.
