Authorities are still trying to identify the two men who were killed in an early morning crash in Van Buren County’s Arlington Township on Sunday. The sheriff’s department says they have been able to determine that both victims were white men, one driving a 1999 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck and the other piloting a 2001 Pontiac Aztek SUV. Investigators say the pickup driver crossed the centerline on M-43 shortly after 5 a.m. and hit the Aztek head-on just west of 46th Street. Both vehicles caught fire and the victims were badly burned to the point authorities haven’t yet been able to identify them. At this point, it’s not known if speed or alcohol were factors. Both men were trapped in their vehicles, and the accident is still under investigation.
